People of the Latchmere Book Launch

July 3 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Discover local history! Support a local author! Patronise a local business!

Local author Gordon Elsden has teamed up with us to throw a public launch event for the release of Elsden’s latest local history book: People of the Latchmere.
On Saturday, July 3rd, from 10am – 4pm not only will the riveting read go on sale exclusively at Parade’s End Books, Elsden will be here to sign books and answer any questions.

In ancient times, the Latchmere Brook made its slow, almost lethargic way to the Thames through the present-day districts of Canbury, Tudor, Ham and Petersham.

This book endeavours to tell some of the stories of a remarkable group of people, who either lived, worked or went to school in the vicinity of the Latchmere, in the early to mid-20th century. Closer inspection reveals an enthralling period of local history that deserves a wider audience and a group of people from whom we can gain some inspiration and a little entertainment.

Reserve your copy and read more about the book here: People of the Latchmere – *Pre-order*

From the proceeds £250 have been donated to the National Trust Tree planting programme and £255 to the National Forest Tree planting programme to support the environment. 50 trees have already been planted to celebrate the book’s launch!
