About the book and the author:

Catherine Randall writes children’s historical fiction for children. Her latest book, The Great Bear Breakout, is inspired by real events at a long-forgotten Victorian zoo in south London. In its heyday, the Royal Surrey Zoological Gardens was a rival to London Zoo, home to lions, tigers, giraffes, bears and many other animals.

Catherine loves encouraging children to enjoy reading and writing as much as she does. She also loves history, and when she is not writing, she leads guided walks around the City of London.
