During trips back and forth to France looking for a holiday home for idyllic summer getaways, Tony Malcolm ended up being the proud owner of a substantial 13th century château.

Far from being the romantic fairy tale envisaged by Brits looking through Rosé tinted glasses, it has challenged Tony and his family in ways they could never have imagined. Especially with Brexit and COVID 19 throwing spanners into the rusting medieval works. There’s joy, there’s tragedy, there’s a Channel 4 crew pointing cameras in their faces.

This may be far from the comfort zone of a copywriter in the ad industry, but along with his eccentric family, he renovates his way to running a successful chambre d’hôte, even though barely capable of running a bath.
