When psychotherapist Sophie finds a note on the floor of her Cotswolds consulting room from someone appearing to confess to a murder, her life is thrown into turmoil. Who is the murderer? A patient? A stranger? Someone closer….? And who is the victim?

The secrecy that Sophie grew up with makes her reluctant to trust others, and she can’t bring herself to consult Jonathan, her eccentric supervisor, although she knows she should. Instead, she confides only in her exuberant friend Helen, and together they concoct a plan to find the murderer. Sophie is forced to re-examine her relationships with everyone she knows. And as more clues are delivered by person or persons unknown, she begins to wonder – is her life in danger?
